		<description><![CDATA[If you&#039;ve ever posted your opinion about controversial topics, you have probably experienced with the unseemly response you receive to things on an online papers&#039; comment threads (charteringquality held aside of course).  

I wasn&#039;t even thinking about that kind of response in my post above, as I don&#039;t generally expect a papers&#039; discussions threads to work out well.  But I have been pleasantly surprised by the variety and range of issues that people have brought up related to this Edweek commentary.  

I couldn&#039;t resist participating myself, as it has presented a chance to raise some of the details that illustrate the point -- this is trickier than most casual observers seem to think.  I would argue it is less an issue of bad intentions, and more an issue of complicated and legalistic procedures and policies interpreted by a gaggle of divergent interests.
